Best online platforms to get Urdu news in Pakistan

A vast majority of people in Pakistan cannot understand the English language. They find it easy to understand the news in the Urdu language. Traditionally, newspapers have been the only source of Urdu news in Pakistan. Dozens of dailies are being published in the country for decades. Only a microscopic minority in Pakistan is able to read English newspapers in Pakistan.



Urdu news is very popular in both print and electronic media in Pakistan. However, most of the news applications are in the English language. English news applications and newspapers have more followers over digital media than the platforms which provide news in the Urdu language.

Geo News Urdu

Established in November 2005, Geo News has the honor of being the oldest operational private news channel in Pakistan. Geo News is owned and operated by the Jang Media Group. Geo news Urdu website is another important digital platform to access Urdu news. Geo TV was established in October 2002 with its headquarters in Karachi. Later on, Geo TV established its news channel named ‘’Geo News”. The website of Geo news provides news both in English and Urdu language. Geo News Urdu app has been downloaded by more than 1 million users on the android play store.

ARY News Urdu

ARY News is a part of the ARY digital network. The name ARY is an acronym of Abdul Razzak Yaqoob, who was the founder of ARY Group. ARY news Urdu application is a good source of news in the Urdu language. The application has been downloaded by more than one million users on the android play store. The application has a rating of 4.0 on the android play store. ARY News was initially launched on 26 September 2004 with the name "ARY One World". In 2009 the channel was renamed ARY News.  

A lion’s share of the total population follows Urdu news to stay abreast of the changing times. The majority of the masses cannot understand English. Therefore, Urdu is the dominant language in both print and electronic media.
